Social media has made comparison unavoidable, leaving many feeling stuck, unfulfilled, and blind to the joy they already have. It’s not that joy has disappeared; it’s that we’ve stopped paying attention to it. We have never been paying less attention to the mundane, to our own joy, and to the joy of others. Joy demands focus and a shift in perspective. When the usual sources no longer work, it’s time to look in new places. Communal joy, shared through connection, holds immense power. It’s like seeing the glow of lights from other houses when your own feels dark—a reminder that joy is always within reach, waiting for you to flip the breaker.
